Zona’s Loren Woods Has 33 Pts, 28 Bds In Bahrain

Former Arizona star Loren Woods had a monster 33-point, 28-rebound double double for Al-Hala in a 87-86 loss to Al-Riffa in the Bahrain Premier League.

The 7-2, 260-pound center shot a blistering 75 percent (12-of-16) from the field, while blocking 4 shots and notching 2 steals.

Ahmed Jamal added 14 points and 7 rebounds for Al-Hala in the loss.

For Al-Riffa, Marcel Jones (Oregon State) had 35 points with 22 rebounds in the victory.

But the star of the game was Woods, who is third in the Bahrain Premier League in scoring and rebounding this season, averaging 22.2 points and 17.5 boards.

He previously played in Lebanon’s Pepsi LBL, averaging 4.3 points and 6.3 rebounds for Al Riyadi in 2014-15.

A college star at Arizona, Woods was third on the team in rebounding and second in scoring as a senior in 2000-01 when he averaged 13.2 points and 6.5 rebounds while leading the Wildcats to a 28-8 record and the NCAA championship game.

The 46th overall pick in the 2001 Draft by Minnesota, Woods has averaged 2.6 points and 3.2 rebounds in six NBA seasons with the Wolves, Heat, Raptors, and Rockets.
