Former Vanderbilt star A.J. Ogilvy had a 19-point, 11 rebound double double to lead Azad University Tehran past Tabriz 89-77 in Iran’s Superleague.
The 6-11 center shot a blistering 64 percent (7-of-11) from two-point range.
Ogilvy also had 3 assists, 2 steals, and a block in the game.
On the season, he is averaging 16.5 points and 10.8 rebounds for Azad.
He comes from the Australian NBL where he was the league’s second leading rebounder, averaging 11.1 points, 7.6 rebounds, and 1.5 blocks for the Illawarra Hawks this season.
Ogilvy led Illawarra to the NBL Finals and was named Australiabasket.com’s NBL Center of the Year, and was selected to the All-NBL First Team.
Last summer he was in the Puerto Rican BSN league, where he averaged 14.5 points and 8.8 rebounds for Manati.
In 2015-16, Ogilvy also played in Australia, averaging 16.4 points and 8.6 rebounds for Illawarra, when he had one of the NBL’s highest player efficiency ratings (PER).
A college star at Vanderbilt, Ogilvy guided the team to two NCAA berths in his three seasons, and left as only the second player in school history with 1,000 career points and 100 blocks.
Ogilvy was also a three-time All-SEC selection and set the Commodore freshman scoring record.
