ESPN No. 94 ranked high school senior Simi Shittu has committed to Vanderbilt.

The 6-8 forward out of Vermont Academy (Saxtons River, VT) led the Nike EYBL’s CIA Bounce in scoring and rebounding this summer, averaging 20.1 points and 10.2 rebounds.

“I just felt like it was home already,” Shittu told 247Sports of Vandy. “The players and everyone were so welcoming, the whole city. The coaches’ vision for me was just great.”

“[Vanderbilt coach Bryce Drew] he’s a great coach,” Shittu added. “He has a lot of NBA experience and he knows the type of player that I am and he just showed me NBA stats and what the NBA wants nowadays and how I’m going to get there.”

According to Scout, Drew has landed a gem of a player in the talented Canadian native

“He’s got good size and length for a power forward, while he has excellent instincts on defense, from his anticipation in the passing lanes to his ability to defend multiple positions,” wrote Scout’s Josh Gershon. “He’s a plus athlete who can finish inside and rebounds in and out of his area. He’s one of 2018’s top prospects nationally.”

Shittu came to Vermont Academy to get more playing time. after playing at loaded basketball powerhouse Montverde Academy (FL) in 2015-16

NorthPoleHoops.com loves the game of one of the best Canadian recruits in the 2018 class.

“His ability to create a play for himself off the dribble and get to the rim from the three point line with one dribble is impressive,” wrote NPH’s Elias Sbiet.

The Commodore beat out the likes of Kentucky, UNC, Arizona, and Oregon to get Shittu.

At Vanderbilt, Shittu will join fellow 2018 recruit No. 11 Darius Garland.
