UAPB’s Martaveous McKnight SWAC Player Of Week

Arkansas-Pine Bluff’s Martaveous McKnight was named the Southwestern Athletic Conference’s Men’s Basketball Player of the Week.

 

The 6-4 junior guard from Walls, MS averaged 21.3 points in three games last week against North Dakota, SMU and Air Force.

 

McKnight poured in 30 points, while sinking 4 threes and shooting a blistering 67 percent from behind the arc in a 80-71 loss to North Dakota on Nov. 13

 

The on Nov. 18 he scored a team-high 19 points in a 72-37 loss to powerhouse SMU.

 

On the season, McKnight leads the SWAC in scoring, averaging 24.7 points on 54 percent from the field (third in the SWAC).

 

He is a transfer from JUCO Itawamba Community College (Fulton, MS), where he was named the NJCAA’s top incoming freshman in 2015-16.

 

A prep star at Lake Cormorant High School, McKnight averaged 24 points as a senior, when he was named to the Commercial Appeal’s Best of the Preps Class AAA team.
