Tu Holloway Leads Piratas To Puerto Rico Title

Xavier’s Tu Holloway Re-Signs In Israel

Former Xavier star Tu Holloway had 10 points and 9 assists to lead Quebradillas past Arecibo 98-90 in Game 7 of the Finals to capture the Puerto Rico BSN Championship.

 

Holloway, who averaged 19.1 points and 7.6 assists for the series, was named Finals MVP.

 

The 6-0 guard was a perfect 6-of-6 from the line, and also had 3 rebounds and 3 steals in the game.

 

Alejandro Carmona added 19 points and 12 rebounds for the Piratas De Quebradillas in the championship win.

 

For Arecibo, David Huertas (Ole Miss) had 23 points with 11 rebounds, while Davon Jefferson (USC) added 15 points and 10 rebounds in the season-ending loss.

 

But the star of the game was MVP Holloway, who led the BSN league in assists and was third in scoring this season, averaging 20 points and 8.2 assists for Quebradillas.

 

A college star at Xavier, Holloway led the team in scoring, assists and steals as a senior in 2011-12, averaging 17.5 points, 4.9 dimes, and 1.5 thefts and leading the Musketeers to the NCAA Tournament’s Sweet 16.

 

He graduated third all-time in career assists and sixth all-time in career scoring at the school.

 

A prep star at Harmony Community School (Cincinnati, OH), Holloway averaged 14 points and 7 assists as a senior, leading the team to a 28-2 record and the quarterfinals of the National Prep Championship.

 

The previous season, he averaged 20 points, 6 assists, and 6 steals for Hempstead High School (NY), when he was named to the All-State Class AA Team.

 

Holloway has also played in the NBA G League (Texas Legends) and overseas in Italy, Turkey, Belgium, Venezuela, Mexico, France, Croatia, and Israel.
