Former Texas Tech star John Roberson scored 17 points to lead France’s Elan Chalon past Croatia’s Cibona 83-78 at the 2017 FIBA Europe Cup.
The 5-11 guard sank 3 threes, while shooting a perfect 100 percent from two-point range and a red-hot 50 percent from behind the arc.
Roberson also had 7 assists.
Cameron Clark (Oklahoma) added 26 points for France in the victory.
With the win, Chalon advanced to the semifinals of the FIBA Europe Cup, an international competition which includes teams from throughout the continent.
Chalon also plays in the France ProA, where Roberson is averaging 15.5 points and 7.1 assists for the league’s second place squad (17-6).
He also played with Chalon last season, averaging 14.8 points and a team-high 6 assists.
Roberson comes from Sweden’s Basketligan league, where he averaged 18 points and 6.2 assists for the Sodertalje Kings in 2014-15.
He also played part of that season in Hungary’s A Division, averaging 9.8 points and 5 assists for Atomeromu SE Paks in the EuroChallenge.
A college star at Texas Tech, Roberson led the team in scoring and assists as a senior, averaging 14.1 points and 4.4 assists in 2010-11.
He also graduated as the school’s all-time career leader in assists.
Roberson starred at Plano HS (TX) where he averaged 25.4 points and 6.1 assists as a senior, leading the team to a 26-8 record and the Region II quarterfinals.
