Former Texas Tech star John Roberson scored 19 points to lead Elan Chalon past Paris-Levallois 72-69 in game 1 of France ProA playoff semifinals
The 5-11 guard sank 3 threes on 43 percent shooting (3-of-7) from behind the arc, while draining 6-of-8 free throws.
Roberson also had 6 assists, 4 rebounds, and a steal in the game.
Cameron Clark (Oklahoma) and Lance Harris (Kansas St.) each added 10 points for Chalon in the win.
For Paris-Levallois, Jason Rich (FSU) poured in 24 points, while Louis Campbell (Buffalo) added 13 points and 4 assists in the loss.
But the star of the game was Roberson, who is second in the French league in assists and is fifth in scoring this season, averaging 16.1 points and 7.1 assists for 2nd place Chalon (27-7)
He also played with Chalon last season, averaging 14.8 points and a team-high 6 assists.
Roberson comes from Sweden’s Basketligan league, where he averaged 18 points and 6.2 assists for the Sodertalje Kings in 2014-15.
He also played part of that season in Hungary’s A Division, averaging 9.8 points and 5 assists for Atomeromu SE Paks in the EuroChallenge.
A college star at Texas Tech, Roberson led the team in scoring and assists as a senior, averaging 14.1 points and 4.4 assists in 2010-11.
He also graduated as the school’s all-time career leader in assists.
Roberson starred at Plano HS (TX) where he averaged 25.4 points and 6.1 assists as a senior, leading the team to a 26-8 record and the Region II quarterfinals.
