Texas Tech Gets Italian Star Davide Moretti

Italian star Davide Moretti has committed to Texas Tech.

The 6-3 point guard averaged 14.8 points and 5 assists for Italy at the FIBA U18 European Championships last year, leading the team the bronze medal.

Moretti also played for the pro club Universo De’Longhi Treviso in the Italian Legadue, averaging 12.6 points and 2.6 rebounds on 37 percent shooting from three.

His father is Paolo Moretti, a famed European basketball player and coach.

Moretti prides himself on being a floor general who can also score.

“I’m a point guard and a shooting guard, I play both positions,” Moretti told Draftexpress.com. “My father was a shooter, so everyday I shoot the ball after practice…like my father.”

The Red Raiders beat out the likes of Indiana, UConn, and Utah to land Moretti.

At Texas Tech, the 19-year-old Moretti will join fellow 2017 recruits No. 43 SG Jarrett Culver, No. 48 PF Daniel Mading, point guard Hyron Edwards, and shooting guard Josh Webster.
