NBA player and former Temple star Lavoy Allen has signed with the Zhejiang Golden Bulls in the Chinese Basketball Association.
The 6-9, 260-pound forward comes from the NBA, where he averaged 2.9 points and 3.6 rebounds for the Pacers last season.
Allen became a free agent last June when the Pacers declined his $3.5 million team option.
He had signed a three-year deal with Indiana in 2015.
The Pacers had acquired Allen along with Evan Turner in a trade that shipped Danny Granger to the 76ers.
A college star at Temple, Allen led the team in rebounding and was second in scoring as a senior in 2010-11 when he averaged 11.6 points and 8.6 rebounds, leading the Owls to a 26-8 record and the NCAA Tournament.
The 50th overall pick in the 2011 Draft by Philadelphia, he has averaged 4.8 points and 4.8 rebounds in six NBA seasons with the 76ers and Pacers.
ESPN’s No. 30 ranked power forward in the 2007 high school class, Allen averaged 13 points, 9.6 rebounds, 3.2 assists, and 3 blocks as a senior for Pennsbury HS (Fairless Hills, PA) when he was named to the All-Southeastern Pennsylvania Second Team.
