Former TCU star Chauncey Collins poured in 29 points to lead his Team 1 past Team 2, 83-67 in the 2016 NBA D-League National Tryout Afternoon Session in NYC.
The 6-0 point guard drilled 7 threes, shooting a perfect 7-of-7 from behind the arc and a blistering 80 percent from the field (8-of-10).
Collins’ magnificent performance was part of the NBADL’s open National Tryout on Sunday, which included 200 players, most of whom signed up online for a chance to make the league.
This year the D-league had a separate afternoon session for 50 select college players that the NBADL specifically invited to evaluate.
Collins was on one of eight teams that played in this special session.
A star at TCU, Collins led the team in scoring this season as a sophomore, averaging 12.3 points a game while shooting 39 percent from three-point range.
He left TCU this spring to pursue a pro career.
In high school, Collins averaged 28.3 points per game for the OKC Storm (Oklahoma City, OK) as a senior, winning two Homeschool National Championships during his career.
