ESPN No. 38 ranked high school senior Will Richardson has committed to Oregon.
The 6-4 point guard out of Oak Hill Academy (VA) averaged 13.5 points and 3.8 assists this summer for E1T1 on the Nike EYBL circuit.
“The reason I picked Oregon is because I think it’s the best situation and [is] a program that wins,” Richardson told 247Sports. “The coaching staff told me how they would get me better, prepare me for the next level and make an impact.”
Richardson prides himself on his versatile game and ability to run a team.
“I see myself coming in as a leader and a lead guard that can play on and off the ball,” said Richardson. “[I] Can make the right pass and lead the team verbally and be a vocal leader on the court.”
Richardson was also attracted to Oregon by the school’s ability to get players to the Association.
“They talk about their pros, they put a couple of people in the NBA last year,” Richardson told Scout. “They said they really like my game. They said they need an impact player right away and I could come and play the combo position and play along with the point guard they have already.”
The Ducks beat out the likes of Gonzaga, Georgia, Florida, Butler, and Ohio State to land Richardson.
At Oregon, Richardson will join fellow 2018 recruits No. 21 Louis King and No. 58 Miles Norris.
