David Huertas Forces Game 7 In PR Finals

Former Ole Miss star David Huertas scored 26 points to lead Arecibo past San German 81-79 in the Puerto Rico BSN league.

The 6-5, 200-pound guard made 2 threes, while shooting a blistering 67 percent from behind the arc and 53 percent (8-of-15) from two-point range.

Huertas also had 8 rebounds, 5 assists, and a block in the game.

Anthony Young (Kentucky Wesleyan) added 25 points for Arecibo in the win.

But the star of the game was Huertas, who is the BSN’s fourth leading scorer this season, averaging 19.9 points, 5 assists, and 4.2 rebounds.

Last season he also played for Arecibo, helping lead the team to the BSN league title.

A college star at Ole Miss, Huertas was second in scoring and assists as a junior in 2008-09, averaging 18.1 points, 2.3 dimes, and 4.5 rebounds.

He had transferred from Florida after his freshman year with the Gators.

A high school star at Arlington Country Day (Jacksonville, FL), Huertas averaged 20 points, 7 rebounds, and 5 assists as a senior, guiding the team to the first 2A state title in school history.

Undrafted, the globe-trotting Huertas has also played overseas in Argentina (Obras Basket), France, Greece (Marousi), Mexico (Halcones Rojos and Panteras), and the Dominican Republic (Metros de Santiago).
