Ohio’s Maurice Ndour Signs In Russia

Former Ohio University star and Senegal native Maurice Ndour has signed with Unics Kazan in Russia’s VTB league.

The 6-9 forward played in the NBA last season, averaging 3.1 points and 2 rebounds in 32 games with the New York Knicks.

Ndour also spent part of the year in the G League, where he averaged 14.7 points and 6.8 rebounds for the Westchester Knicks.

A college star at Ohio University, Ndour led the team in scoring and rebounding as a senior in 2014-15, averaging 16 points and 8.3 rebounds.

A JUCO transfer, Ndour averaged 15.9 points and 10.5 rebounds on 42 percent shooting from three for Monroe College as a sophomore before coming to Ohio.

Ndour also helped lead Senegal to the bronze medal at this year’s Afrobasket Championships when he averaged 8.8 points and 4 rebounds in five games.

In addition, the international forward won a European championship with Real Madrid in 2016.

In Russia, Ndour will be joining a Unics Kazan team led by top scorer Stephane Lasme (UMass), who is averaging 17.3 points in EuroCup play.
