247sports’ No. 44 ranked high school senior power forward Taylor Currie has committed to Wisconsin.
The 6-8 big man out of Clarkston HS (MI) averaged 11.7 points and 8 rebounds for All-Ohio Red this summer on the Nike EYBL 16U circuit.
“I love how they have the big guys do everything,” Currie told BadgerNation.com of Wisconsin. “They shoot, they handle, they do everything the guards do.”
“Looking at what they have on the roster and how they play, it is a great opportunity for me,” added Currie to Scout. “I think I play like their bigs in the past have played. It is an opportunity to come in and contribute.”
Currie had originally committed to Michigan in June before pulling out of the school and reopening his recruitment.
He is a very talented and versatile forward.
“Currie is known as a skilled big man who has shown the ability to comfortably finish and [the] early potential stretch the floor with his jump shot,” wrote UMHoops’ Dylan Burkhardt. “He finishes well around the basket and has had a handful of big performances this summer on the grassroots circuit including a game at Spiece where he knocked down five triples.”
“He shows good rebounding numbers (8 per game in EYBL play) and appears to have a good motor,” Burkhardt added.
The Badgers beat out Xavier to land Currie, who also had interest from the likes of Florida, Ohio State, and West Virginia.
At Wisconsin, Currie will join fellow 2018 recruit No. 26 C Joe Hedstrom.
