247 Sports’ No. 38 ranked high school senior shooting guard Keith Williams has committed to Cincinnati.
The 6-5 Williams out of Bishop Loughlin (Brooklyn, NY) averaged 15 points and 4.3 rebounds for New Heights on the Under Armour circuit this year.
Bishop Loughlin is the same NYC school that produced former NBA player and St. John’s star Mark Jackson.
According to Scout, Williams is a great fit for the Bearcats.
“At around 6-foot-5, Williams has the ability to make shots from deep along with the toughness and athleticism to get to the rim,” wrote Scout’s Brian Snow. “Williams should fit in extremely well with the Bearcats and [coach Mick] Cronin’s style. Cronin has always wanted a team full of high energy versatile defenders who play with toughness, and that is what Williams is, and he adds in some scoring ability as well.”
Williams’ signing is good news for a Cincinnati squad that will be losing senior guards Troy Caupain (the team’s top scorer last year) and Kevin Johnson after this season.
With the Bearcats, Williams will join fellow 2017 recruit No. 61 SG Trevor Moore (Whitney HS-TX).
Cincinnati beat out the likes of Oklahoma State, VCU, Dayton, Saint Louis, and Rutgers to get Williams.
