ESPN No. 32 ranked high school senior and LSU commit Javonte Smart poured in a whopping 64 points to lead Scotlandville Magnet HS (Baton Rouge, LA) past Little Elm (Texas) at the Thanksgiving Hoopfest.
The 6-4 point guard drilled 7 threes, shot 17-of-25 from the field, and sank 18-of-22 from the line.
He also had 8 rebounds and 6 assists.
Smart said his big game was dedicated to his late father.
“Today was my dad’s birthday,” Smart told Ballislife. “I was planning on getting 42 points because today he was turning 42 years old. He died when I was 7. I give it all to him.”
But Smart was so red-hot that he blew past his 42-point goal.
The explosive floor general averaged 25.1 points, 8.7 rebounds, 6.4 assists, and 2.1 steals last season for Scotlandville, leading the team to the state championship.
Smart, who was named Louisiana’s Mr. Basketball last year, also averaged a team-leading 16.1 points and 4.2 assists for Houston Hoops on the Nike EYBL last spring.
NBC Sports’ Scott Phillips loves Smart’s complete game.
“A much-improved all-around scorer, besides being a solid distributor, Smart is the type of guard who can come in and immediately make an impact as a freshman for the Tigers,” Phillips wrote.
