ESPN No. 20 ranked high school senior Billy Preston has announced that he is opening up his recruitment.
Earlier this month Preston had picked a new top five list of target schools: Indiana, Kansas, Maryland, NC State, and USC.
This was after he had originally announced his top 4 colleges in March. He had deleted Arizona, while adding the Hoosiers and Wolfpack to make up his new five-team target list.
But now all that is out the window as Preston is now open to considering other schools as well.
“After talking with my family and starting my senior year at Oak Hill Academy, I have decided to open my recruitment up and explore what schools would best fit for me as a student-athlete,” Preston told Zagsblog. “I have no time table for making my final decision.”
Preston, a 6-10, 230-pound forward, led Houston Hoops in scoring on the Nike EYBL circuit this year, averaging 14.7 points and 7.3 rebounds.
He will be playing his senior season at Oak Hill Academy (VA) after transferring from Advanced Prep International (Dallas) due to negative reports about their academics.
A matchup nightmare, Preston is a unique inside-outside player, a strong rebounder who can play in the paint, but also has a nice jumper.
“He’s a monster talent,” ESPN’s Fran Fraschilla said of Preston to the Bleacher Report. “I can’t believe he shoots the ball so well for a guy his size. He looks like Zach Randolph. There’s not much he can’t do.”
