Marshall’s Wilkerson Signs In Arab Emirates

Former Marshall star Tyler Wilkerson has signed with Al Sharjah in the United Arab Emirates D1 league.

The 6-8 forward comes from the Puerto Rican BSN, where he averaged 15 points and 8 rebounds this season for Gallitos de Isabela.

In 2016 Wilkerson played in the China NBL, averaging 31.7 points, 14.3 rebounds, and 1.7 blocks for the Shaanxi Wolves.

Wilkerson led the Wolves to the league’s best regular season record and was selected to the NBL All-Star team.

He also played that year with Al Shabab Dubai in the United Arab Emirates D1 league.

The previous season he was in the Philippines PBA, averaging 36.6 points, 14.3 rebounds, and 2.1 blocks for SM Beermen and was named the All-PBA Commissioner’s Cup Forward of the Year.

Prior to the Philippines, Wilkerson was back in Puerto Rico, where he averaged 19.3 points and 10.1 rebounds for the Piratas de Quebradillas.

A college star at Marshall, Wilkerson led the team in scoring as a senior, averaging 14 points and 7.2 rebounds.

He, along with current Miami Heat star Hassan Whiteside, guided the Thundering Heard to a 24-10 record that year.

Wilkerson has also played overseas in Israel and Korea (KCC Egis), as well as in the NBA G League with the Delaware 87ers and Austin Spurs.
