Oregon transfer and 2016 JUCO Player of the Year Kavell Bigby-Williams has committed to LSU.
The 6-10 junior forward was third on the team in blocks this season, averaging 3 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 0.7 rejections for the Ducks, while playing only 9.8 minutes a game.
Bigby-Williams came to Oregon from JUCO Gillette (Wyo.) College, where he averaged 16.8 points, 13.6 rebounds, and 5.6 blocks in 2015-16 and led the team to a 34-2 record and the NJCAA Final Four.
He led the nation in blocks with 211, while shooting a red-hot 59.2 percent from the field that year.
For his outstanding season, he was named the 2016 JUCO Player of the Year and was selected to the NJCAA All-American First Team.
Now Bigby-Williams is headed to Oregon in an apparent search for more playing time in his final college season
“I am pleased to welcome Kavell to Baton Rouge,” LSU head coach Will Wade said via a statement. “He’s a very talented frontcourt player and a young man I know is going to work hard for us and make a tremendous impact once he’s eligible next season.”
Due to NCAA transfer rules, Bigby-Williams will have to sit out next season.
