ESPN No. 7 ranked high school senior Keldon Johnson has committed to Kentucky.
The 6-6 swingman out of Oak Hill Academy (VA) led his Nike EYBL Boo Williams team in scoring and rebounding this summer, averaging 20.7 points and 8.5 boards.
Johnson also averaged a whopping 25.2 points in the Hampton, VA leg of the EYBL, leading his team to a perfect 4-0 record.
He played at Huntington Prep (WVA) last season before transferring to Oak Hill for his senior year.
“Historic program, great coaching, [and] they develop players really well,” Johnson told PlayMakerScouting.com of the Wildcats.
Scout’s Brian Snow thinks Johnson is a great fit for Kentucky.
At 6-foot-6, Johnson is one of the more unique players in the class of 2018,” wrote Snow. “Johnson loves to play on the ball, but is more of a wing who can handle it as opposed to a true point guard. Given that Kentucky will have several point guards on the roster, and another already committed, Johnson will have a chance to freelance on the wing while also creating for others.”
Johnson said he prides himself on his complete game.
“I play hard on both ends. Defense. Offense,” Johnson told D1circuit. “I rebound. I score. I can do it all.”
The Wildcats beat out finalists Texas, Maryland, and NC State to land Johnson.
At Kentucky, Johnson will join fellow 2018 recruit No. 12 Immanuel Quickley.
