ESPN No. 13 ranked high school senior Quentin Grimes has committed to Kansas.
The 6-5 point guard averaged a whopping 28.1 points with 8 rebounds and 5 assists last season for Woodlands College Park HS (TX), when he was named the Montgomery Courier’s Player of the Year.
Grimes also had a strong AAU season, averaging 21.2 points, 4.3 assists, and 4 rebounds for Basketball University at the Adidas Summer Championships.
“I picked them because they have a winning tradition and to play for a Hall of Fame coach like Bill Self,” Grimes told 247Sports of Kansas. “He lets the guards run the show. He lets them have a lot of freedom on the offensive end and that’s what I really liked.”
At Kansas, Grimes will join fellow 2018 recruits No. 26 Devon Dotson, No. 28 Silvio De Sousa, and No. 33 David McCormack.
“Devon will complement me terrifically on the ball. He’s a good point guard and I’m more of a scoring guard,” said Grimes. “David is a beast on the boards. Silvio is a freak athletically so I think we will definitely be the number one recruiting class for sure.”
Grimes prides himself on his versatile game.
“I’m a big guard, and can score inside and out,” Grimes told Scout of his game. “I can get to the rim and finish through contact, but also find my teammates when they’re open.”
The Jayhawks beat out the finalists Kentucky, Texas, and Marquette to land Grimes.
