The Atlanta Hawks beat the Boston Celtics 104-92 in Game 6 to win their first-round playoff series 4-2.
Paul Millsap had a team-high 17 points, Al Horford and Kent Bazemore scored 15 apiece, while Kyle Korver added 14 points in the win.
For the Celtics, All-Star Isaiah Thomas poured in a game-high 25 points with 10 assists, Jae Crowder scored 15, while Marcus Smart and Jonas Jerebko each chipped in 13 points in the season-ending loss.
The Hawks scored a whopping 39 points in the third period while shooting a red-hot 74 percent from the field to put the game away.
Atlanta led by as much as 28-points and Boston, limited to 36 percent field goal shooting, never got closer than 10 points the rest of the game.
“I think we learned from before with this team that no lead is safe,” the Hawks’ Horford told the AP. “To start the third it was important for us to get off to a good start and just keep attacking and have that mentality of keep attacking play after play.”
“I felt we did that consistently in the third and that was the big difference,” added Horford.
The Hawks will meet the Cleveland Cavaliers in the next round. Game 1 is Monday, May 2 in Cleveland.
The Cavs beat the Hawks last year in the Eastern Conference finals after Atlanta had finished with the best regular season in franchise history.
