Former NAIA Goshen College star Errick McCollum poured in 26 points for Turkey’s Anadolu Efes in a 88-74 loss to Span’s Real Madrid in the Euroleague.
The 6-2 guard shot a torrid 55 percent (6-of-11) from the field and 11-of-12 from the line.
McCollum also had 2 rebounds, 2 assists, and 2 steals in the game.
Ricky Ledo (Providence) added 17 points and 9 rebounds for Anadolu Efes in the loss.
For Real Madrid, Slovenian teen sensation and projected top 2018 NBA Draft pick Luka Doncic had 27 points, while Gustavo Ayon (San Jose St.) added 18 points and 10 rebounds in the win.
But the star of the game was McCollum, who comes from the China CBA, where he was the league’s second leading scorer this season, averaging 37.5 points and 6.4 rebounds for the Beikong Fly Dragons.
McCollum played that year in Turkey’s BSL league as well, where he averaged 13.8 points and 3.1 boards for Galatasaray
He was also with Galatasaray the previous season, where he averaged 15 points and 3.4 assists and was an All-Star.
McCollum also led Galatasaray to the 2015-16 Eurocup championship and was named Eurocup MVP.
He was back in China in 2014-15, averaging 39.6 points, 7.4 rebounds, and 5.5 assists for Zhejiang.
That season he had a CBA record 82 points against Guangdong.
In 2017, McCollum led Overseas Elite to their third straight The Basketball Tournament championship, splitting $2 million in prize money with his teammates.
A college star at Goshen, McCollum graduated as the school’s all-time career scorer with 2,789 points.
McCollum also has played overseas in Greece (Panionios and Apollon Patras) and Israel (Hapoel Kfar Saba and GreenTops Netanya).
His brother is Portland Trailblazers star C.J. McCollum.
