Gonzaga’s Austin Daye Leads Israel In Scoring

Former Gonzaga star and NBA player Austin Daye is leading the Israel Winner League in scoring.

 

The 6-11 small forward is averaging a league-high 20.3 points, along with 3.7 rebounds for Hapoel Jerusalem.

 

Daye comes from the Turkey BSL, where he averaged 10.5 points and 4.3rpg last season for Galatasaray.

 

In 2015-16 Daye led Italy’s Serie A league in scoring and was second in rebounding, averaging 21.2 points and 9 rebounds for VL Pesaro, when he was named Import Player of the Year, Forward of the Year and was voted to the all-league 1st team.

 

He also played that season in Bahrain’s Premier League, leading Al Manama to the Finals.

 

A college star at Gonzaga, Daye averaged 12.7 points, 6.8 rebounds, and 2.1 blocks as a sophomore in 2008-09, leading the No. 10 ranked Bulldogs to a 28-6 record and the NCAA tournament’s Sweet Sixteen.

 

The No. 15 overall pick in the 2009 Draft, Daye has averaged 5.2 points and 2.6 rebounds in parts of six NBA seasons with the Pistons, Grizzlies, Spurs, Raptors and Hawks.

 

A high school star at Woodbridge (Irvine, CA), Daye averaged 30.9 points, 12.4 rebounds, and 5.4 blocks as senior when he was named to the Orange County Register First Team.

 

His father is former UCLA and NBA player Darren Daye.
