Florida’s Casey Prather Scores 30 In Australia

Former Florida star Casey Prather poured in 30 points for Melbourne United in a 87-85 loss to the Brisbane Bullets in the Australia National Basketball League (NBL).

The 6-6 guard/forward sank 3 threes, while shooting a red-hot 60 percent (3-of-5) from behind the arc and 57 percent (8-of-14) from two-point range.

Prather also had 6 rebounds and an assist.

Josh Boone (UConn) added 12 points with 14 rebounds for Melbourne United in the loss.

For Brisbane, Stephen Holt (St. Mary’s) had 17 points, while Daniel Kickert (St. Mary’s) added 11 points, 5 rebounds, and 5 assists in the win.

But the star of this game was Prather, who is the NBL’s 5th leading scorer this season, averaging 17.6 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 3.2 assists.

The previous two seasons Prather also played in Australia, leading the Perth Wildcats to back-to-back NBL championships.

A college star at Florida, Prather was the team’s top scorer as a senior in 2013-14, averaging 13.8 points and 5 rebounds, while leading the Gators to a 36-3 record and the 2014 NCAA Final Four.

He was also named to All-SEC First-Team that season.

ESPN’s No. 35 ranked recruit out of high school, Prather averaged 29 points, 13 rebounds, 5 blocks, and 5 steals as a senior at North Side HS (Jackson, TN).
