With many of the top high school seniors committing to colleges in recent months, they are now looking to recruit other players to join them.
And ESPN No. 7 ranked high school senior Kevin Knox is someone everyone seems to be after.
“Both [No. 3 Sr] Wendell [Carter] and [No. 8 Sr] Gary [Trent] at Duke have been hitting me up a lot,” Knox told USA Today. “[No. 22 Sr] Quade [Green], [No. 22 Sr] P.J. [Washington] and [No. 22 Sr] Nick [Richards] have been hitting me too wanting me to team-up with them [at Kentucky].
“I just came back from FSU last weekend and so, of course, I got the speech about what playing there would be like,” added Knox. “Then North Carolina fans are crazy about me so they’re constantly hitting me up, so I get a lot of contact from people from each school.”
Knox, an explosive 6-8 forward, averaged a whopping 30.1 points and 11.2 rebounds a game last season for Tampa Catholic (FL), so it is clear why he is in such high demand.
“He’s a guy you need on your team,” said Trent. “He does a lot of things well and he can really help you. I’m definitely trying to get Kev to Duke with me.”
According to Scout, whichever team eventually lands the talented Knox will be extremely happy.
“He’s a 6-foot-8 wing with good length and very good athleticism,” Scout’s Evan Daniels told the Herald-Leader of Knox. “He’s developed a pretty good jump shot off the catch from three. And he’s very competitive on the defensive end.”
“Another thing I really like about him is his ability to rebound from the perimeter position and start the break,” added Daniels.
