ESPN No. 13 ranked high school junior Joey Baker has committed to Duke.

The 6-7 forward averaged 17.2 points and 5.4 rebounds for Trinity Christian School (NC) last season.

Baker also had a strong summer, averaging 13.6 points and 4.3 rebounds for Team Felton on the Under Armor circuit.

“I just feel like I fit there on the court and off the court,” Baker told Scout of the Blue Devils. “They are a family. I started picturing myself at different schools and I couldn’t picture myself anywhere but there.”

“[Duke coach Mike Krzyzewski is] amazing,” added Baker. “He’s arguably one of the best coaches of all time. He’s a great person and that really stuck out to me.”

Baker said he will bring a lot to the Blue Devils.

“I’m a versatile player,” said Baker. “I can do a lot of different things. I can play on the perimeter, sort of what Grayson Allen does and I can also do other things in the post and rebound and defend.”

The Blue Devils beat out the likes of UCLA, Louisville, and NC State to land Baker.

Baker is Duke’s first 2019 commit.
