Kyle Anderson Leads Skull Gang To Dyckman Title

Kyle Anderson Leads Skull Gang To Dyckman Title

(INWOOD, NEW YORK CITY) - The 2016 Dyckman Basketball season is in the books and for the second time in three years Juelz Santana's Skull Gang Records have claimed the championship. The journey to the chip this year was a bit different from 2014 when they were stacked with street ball's elite players. This season they did it with a small tight-knit crew of players from across the bridge (New Jersey) and a pro leading the way in the playoffs, Kyle Anderson.   Semifinals: #1 Skull Gang 84, #2 Ave Life 81 OT Arguably the game of the summer, this one was a slugfest. Both teams only dressed about seven players. The difference down the stretch was that Skull Gang had someone who suits up for the San Antonio Spurs and Greg Popovich in Kyle Anderson. "Slow-Mo," as he's called in the streets, carried Skull Gang with a game-high 30 points. His last three-points came in dramatic fashion. With the game tied at 81 with 2.6 seconds left in overtime Anderson caught the ball near halfcourt took one dribble and banked in the game-winning shot at the buzzer. As you can imagine the crowd went insane, as they just witnessed the best finish in street ball this summer. The defending champs Ave Life could do nothing but tip their hat, Jordan Aaron (Milwaukee '14) led the way for them with 24 points while Corey Fisher (Villanova '11) finished with 19 points, respectively.   #1 Rodney Park 76, #3 Jimmy Jazz 63 The second semifinal game wasn't as dramatic. Undefeated Rodney Park continued their dominance on the season and rolled over #3 seeded Jimmy Jazz. This year has been somewhat of a resurgence for Miguel "Miles High" Millien, and the high-flyer continued his great play tonight. He finished with a game-high 24 points and numerous jaw-dropping dunks.   Championship: #1 Skull Gang 54, #1 Rodney Park 49 Championship night at Dyckman was like a movie. The venue was filled to capacity and everyone was excited to see the two top seeded teams meet for the title, a rarity here at Dyckman. Both teams were evenly matched and the game was close throughout. Skull Gang entered halftime with a slight 36-32 advantage. In the second half the game continued to be tightly contested and with a minute to go Skull Gang had a three-point lead. Rodney Park had a chance to tie it but a David Seagers three-point attempt rattled off the rim. Jeff Robinson (Seton Hall '11) was a workhorse for Skull Gang, finishing with a 14 and 12 double-double, while Kyle Anderson ran the point for most of the game and finished with 14 points as well.   Afterwards, Skull Gang coach Twin had this to say, "We're just trying to restore order here at Dyckman. Last year was disappointing but this is where we belong, on top."     Author Miguel Rodriguez has extensive experience covering the Dyckman Summer League     For more basketball news to go
