ESPN No. 13 ranked high school senior and Kansas commit Quentin Grimes poured in 44 points for Woodlands College Park HS (TX) in a 64-77 loss to St. Edwards (OH) at the Torrey Pines Holiday Classic in California. Grimes also grabbed 9 rebounds in the game. “I felt like I played well, but it wasn’t enough to get the win,” Grimes told Zagsblog. “I feel like we were lacking a bit on the defensive end, with our rebounding. I think that’s something we’ll work on in the next game for sure.” Grimes, a 6-5 point guard averaged a whopping 28.1 points with 8 rebounds and 5 assists last season for Woodlands, when he was named the Montgomery Courier’s Player of the Year. He also had a strong AAU season, averaging 21.2 points, 4.3 assists, and 4 rebounds for Basketball University at the Adidas Summer Championships. Grimes said he is looking forward to joining Kansas next season. “I’m gonna have to be the primary leader next year [at KU] because there will be a lot of guards leaving,” said Grimes. “Hopefully, I can lead the team to a final four and championship.” “Just to play for a hall of fame coach like Coach [Bill] Self [is exciting],” added Grimes. “He’s had a lot of good guards like Mario Chalmers. I’m excited to pick his brain about work ethic and everything. I think it will help me tremendously.” Grimes prides himself on his versatile game. “I’m a big guard, and can score inside and out,” Grimes told Scout. “I can get to the rim and finish through contact, but also find my teammates when they’re open.” For more basketball news to go http://www.blacktoptv.com/
