UNC’s Tyler Hansbrough Scores 38 In China

Former UNC star and NBA vet Tyler Hansbrough poured in 38 points for the Guangzhou Long-Lions in a 122-116 loss to the Beijing Ducks in the Chinese Basketball Association.   The 6-9, 250-pound forward shot a red-hot 58 percent (11-of-19) from the field, while sinking 16-of-17 from the line.   Hansbrough also grabbed 15 rebounds in the game.   Semaj Christon (Xavier) added 21 points and 4 assists for Guangzhou in the defeat.   For Beijing, Aaron Jackson (Duquesne) had 22 points with10 assists, while Justin Hamilton (LSU) added 19 points in the victory.   But the star of the game was Hansbrough, who is averaging 20.5 points and 11.3 rebounds this season for Guangzhou.   Hansbrough comes from the G League, where averaged 17.6 points and 12.2 rebounds last year for the Fort Wayne Mad Ants.   The previous season he played with the Charlotte Hornets, averaging 2.4 points and 2 rebounds in 7.8 minutes a game.   Over his career, Hansbrough has averaged 6.7 points and 4.2 rebounds in seven NBA seasons with the Pacers, Raptors, and Hornets.   A college star at North Carolina, Hansbrough was a four-time First-Team All-American, whose 20.2 point career average was the sixth-highest in school history.   He led the Tar Heels to a 120-22 record, and graduated as the school’s all-time career leader in rebounds.   Hansbrough is also Carolina’s all-time leading scorer in NCAA Tournament play with 325 points, fourth-most in NCAA history behind only Christian Laettner, Elvin Hayes and Danny Manning.   He was the 13th overall pick in the 2009 NBA Draft by the Pacers.   For more basketball news go to http://www.blacktoptv.com/
