W. Virginia’s Devin Ebanks Drops 50 In Puerto Rico

Former West Virginia star Devin Ebanks exploded for 50 points to lead San German past Mayaguez 132-125 in Puerto Rico’s BSN league.   The 6-9 small forward nailed four threes, while shooting 64 percent (16-of-25) from two-point range and 57 percent (4-of-7) from behind the arc.   Ebanks also had 8 rebounds, 3 assists and a steal in the game.   Gary Browne (W. Virginia) had a 24-point, 16-rebound, 12-assist triple double, while Alex Franklin (Sienna) added 16 points and 10 boards for San German in the win.   For Mayaguez, Tony Mitchell (Alabama) had 34 points and 7 rebounds in the loss.   But the star of the game was Ebanks, who is the BSN’s leading scorer, averaging 22.2 points and 4.4 rebounds.   He comes from the NBA D-league, where he averaged 22 points and 7.3 rebounds this season for the Grand Rapids Drive.   A college star at West Virginia, Ebanks led the team in rebounding and was third in scoring as a senior when he averaged 12 points, 8.1 rebounds, and 2.4 assists in 2009-10.   He also led the Mountaineers to a 31-7 record that season and the NCAA tournament’s Final Four.   The 43rd overall pick by the Los Angeles Lakers in the 2010 draft, Ebanks has averaged 3.6 points and 1.9 rebounds in parts of three NBA seasons with the Lakers.   For more basketball news go to http://www.blacktoptv.com
