247sports’ No. 37 ranked high school sophomore power forward John-Michael Mulloy has committed to Butler.
The 6-9 big man averaged 9.5 points, 8.2 rebounds, and 1.5 blocks this season for Carmel HS (IN), leading the team to a 22-5 record.
Mulloy also had a strong spring, averaging a 12.4-point, 10.6-rebound double double for Indy Spiece at the Nike EYBL Peach Jam.
“It was the school for me,” Mulloy told D1Vision of choosing Butler. “[I] got a feeling that I wanted to be there as soon as I got on campus. It’s very close to home and has one of the best coaching staffs and fan bases in the US.”
“They play hard 100 percent of the time,” Mulloy added. “That’s what I pride myself on, and their team orientated play falls directly into what kind of player I am.”
Phenom Hoop Report’s Rick Lewis said the multi-talented Mulloy is an emerging star who will only get better.
“Mulloy is a skilled passer and shooter with length, energy and a high basketball IQ,” wrote Lewis.
The Bulldogs beat out the likes of Miami of Ohio, Tulsa and Toledo to land Mulloy, who also had interest from Purdue
